Wild Rose Introduces Dvorak as New GM in Jefferson

JEFFERSON, Iowa (June 1, 2016) — Wild Rose Casino & Resort has a new general manager, and he’s a long-time veteran from within the company. Travis Dvorak, formerly general manager of Wild Rose Clinton, accepted the position and takes the helm today. Tom Timmons, president of Wild Rose, introduced Dvorak today to the community and media.

“We conducted a significant search and determined we had the right person already in the company,” Timmons said. “Travis has worked in the gaming business for almost two decades and spent a good deal of that time in management. A year ago, as we prepared to open Wild Rose Jefferson, Travis pitched in to help wherever and whenever we needed it.”

Helping wherever and whenever needed is part of Dvorak’s DNA. Serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Gulf War era trained him well for leading people. After taking college classes through Central Texas College and the University of Maryland, he returned to his hometown of Clutier in Tama County and secured his first gaming position as a blackjack dealer at Meskwaki Bingo Casino & Hotel. From there, he moved to Lakeside Casino where he was promoted four times in management positions over six years.

“I didn’t intend to go into gaming as a career, but I fell in love with the business,” Dvorak said. “I knew it was what I wanted to do.”

Timmons recruited Dvorak to Wild Rose Emmetsburg as the casino manager in 2006. He was promoted to assistant general manager in Emmetsburg in 2013. In May 2014, Dvorak was tapped to be the general manager of Wild Rose Clinton.

“Travis has done quite well managing the Clinton property, and he has the added experience of having worked in Central Iowa,” Timmons explained. “He leads without ego, and works diligently to build a team atmosphere. He possesses the right skill set and market experience to continue the work and improvements made recently in Jefferson.”

Dvorak will be moving to the area this summer.

“This casino has tremendous opportunities, and I look forward to being part of the team as we realize the full potential,” Dvorak said.

Kelley Dvorak accepted the position of HR manager for the Jefferson casino. She has worked in gaming for 13 years. She joined Wild Rose in 2007, working as a benefits specialist at Wild Rose Emmetsburg and most recently served as manager of corporate services for Wild Rose Clinton.

The Dvoraks have four children ranging in ages from 14 to 22.

Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Jefferson opened for business on July 13, 2015. The entertainment complex features an 18,000-square-foot casino with 526 slot machines and 14 table games. The casino is part of an Iowa-based gaming company that owns three properties including casinos in Emmetsburg and Clinton. Since 2006, Wild Rose casino revenues have generated nearly $30 million for community organizations and projects. In addition, Wild Rose casinos have generated more than $140 million in state and local taxes.
